Advent. The familiar word comes from Adventus, the Latin for “coming.” The Israelites anticipated the coming of their Messiah—a Savior who would rescue them from centuries of brutality and captivity. Today, we anticipate the coming of Jesus, born in a manger in the most undignified of ways. Jesus—a Savior who is Christ the Lord. A Messiah who rescues us from our enslavement to sin and invites us to join him in an eternal kind of life.
Each weekend in December, Willow Creek offers The Advent Project with reflections and worship that center around the coming of the Christ from four distinct viewpoints.
Take time with each weekly selection. Read the words. Listen to them. Reflect on them. Worship. Pray. Put Jesus at the center of your heart. Your life. And renew your sense of wonder at the miracle of Christ’s birth.
Our prayer is that you come away challenged, inspired, encouraged, and filled with anticipation.
