Praying for our world on 08.17.13

This weekend, we immersed ourselves in God’s LOVE for every single person on earth.  Built around Robbie Seay’s fantastic song “Rich & Poor”, we thanked God for His love and then prayed for our brothers and sisters around the world.  Here’s how it flowed…

We began with Mighty to Save.  I love this classic song for a number of reasons, and the second verse kills me every time…

So take me as You find me / All my fears and failures / Fill my life again
I give my life to follow / Everything I believe in / Now I surrender

This declaration lead us into a really percussive, double drum set version of I Could Sing of Your Love Forever that launched us into God’s Children, which always reminds me of how wide God’s Love really is.  If interested, you can download four different FREE versions of this song HERE.

With all this in our hearts and minds, Sharon Irving belted out the stirring Robbie Seay song “Rich & Poor“, which lead us into a time of prayer for the world:  the violence erupting in Egypt, the school closings in Chicago, and the Israeli/Palestinian peace negotiations.  You can watch the whole experience here…

Finally, the community stood and belted out the classic hymn “This is My Father’s World”.  (This arrangement.)  After such a rich time of prayer, the lyrics felt particularly powerful…

This is my Father’s world.
O let me ne’er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my father’s world!
The battle is not done;
Jesus who died,
shall be satisfied,
And earth and heav’n be one.

This is my Father’s world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!

Today, may we live in deep reality of God’s immense love for us. For you, me, everyone we’ve ever met, and every single person on earth. Thanks be to God!
