Prepare the Way on 12.4.11

Glory to God Forever
O Come All Ye Faithful
Go Tell it on the Mountain
Gloria in Excelsis Deo
Prepare the Way
O Come Let Us Adore Him

Last weekend we participated in the second week of Advent together. The theme we focused on was Preparation; preparing the way for the Lord. Shawn led us with a new arrangement of Go Tell it on the Mountain and interspersed were our advent readings for the week:

The words of the prophet Isaiah
“A voice of one calling:
In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD;
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be raised up,
every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level,
the rugged places a plain.
And the glory of the LORD will be revealed,
and all people will see it together.
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
Isaiah 40:3-5 (TNIV)

Zechariah’s words to his son John the Baptist
“And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;
for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,
to give his people the knowledge of salvation
through the forgiveness of their sins,
because of the tender mercy of our God,
by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven
to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
Luke 1:76-79 (TNIV)

Later in the service Bill delivered an incredible message, expanding on what it means to prepare the way for the Lord. If Christ was to enter into our homes and break into our life today, is there any preparation we will have wished we’ve done? Is there anything we need to repent of and turn away from?  Do we need to make more room in our lives to be placing Jesus at the center?

May worshipping Jesus by preparing to celebrate His birth, be our focus this Christmas season.
