Make Me An Instrument of Your Peace on 10.23.11

New Doxology
All the Poor and Powerless
Here I am to Worship
Open Up – with dance and light
In Christ Alone

This weekend we spent time within the prayer of Saint Francis.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace
Where there is hatred let me sow love
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;

Where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled, as to console,
To be understood, as to understand
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

A collaboration of the Groundworks and Student Impact dance team danced to the song “Open Up” penned by the band The Brilliance.  Listen to the song here…

Open Up

Dan Larson designed and built the beautiful light fixture that represented the light the world, Jesus Christ. The dancers’ movements symbolized how we move out into the world through the center of everything, which is Christ.  As the prayer of Saint Francis says, where there is despair, may we bring hope, where there is darkness, may we bring light. May we seek to love, to understand, to console, to pardon others.

  1. Was the dance and song videotaped? I saw it in person and do so want my friend to be able to see it and be blessed as I was.
