Awake My Soul on 9.25.11

This weekend was entirely focused on awakening our souls through the spiritual practice of Worship.

We began with an unplugged set of “All the Poor and Powerless” (the song we taught last week), and a driving version of the great hymn “Praise to the Lord the Almighty”.  And then we dove into the gospel song “Revelation 19″.  Personally, this is one of the most powerful worship songs I’ve ever heard, and I was thrilled to hear the Willow community sing it out.  [You can download a live recording of it here: Revelation 19 (live).]

And then we got to share the central song of this series:  “Awake My Soul” by Mumford and Sons.  In front of a stunning video created by Bjorn and Blaine…Sharon and the team launched into this song with passionate abandon.  You watch Mumford perform it here…

After Darren’s fantastic teaching through Psalm 150 (definitely check it out HERE), the church stood and sang with all our lungs:  “Revelation Song”, “Mighty to Save”, and a bellowing version of “Great is Thy Faithfulness”.  It was a moving weekend together.

Honored to be a part of the massive Willow Creek Choir…

  1. Sharons song was great. I love to do the worship. My favorite part of the service.
Lately though, I get off track. I really like to get involved in the song, but when the music stops and we are supposed to sing without it, or the song is split up with another song in the middle, it really throws me off. Then I loose all focus.
So then when a song comes up I like, I have a hard time getting into it because
I keep thinking it is going to stop or get modified. If most people like it, then go for it. You guys all put in a lot of effort to make it good. I appreciate it, just wanted to give my input.

    Thanks much,Dennis

  2. Were there any different songs sang on Sunday @ 11:15 compared to the DVD from Sat? I have to say worship on Sunday hasn’t been that powerful for a long time, it fed my soul. Thank you God!
