unplugged on 4.30.11

Last weekend, after the huge explosion of Easter, we decided to strip it all down to the basics.  A few of us sat at the front of the stage with acoustic instruments, and invited the community into a singing, clapping, foot-stomping, drum-pounding worship experience.  People jumped right in and we had a great time together lifting up the name of the Almighty.

We began with one of my all-time favorite opening prayers…

“We have come together as the family of God
in our Father’s presence to offer Him praise and thanksgiving,
to hear His holy word, to bring before Him the needs of the world,
to ask His forgiveness of our sins, and to seek His grace,
that through His Son Jesus Christ
we may give ourselves to His service.  Amen.”

And after a really quirky and energetic arrangement of “Come Thou Fount”, Becky taught us a new song:  “Everything” by Tim Hughes.  This simple song is deep, rich, and powerful.  Listen to Tim’s recording HERE.  This holy moment launched us into a drum-slamming Sigur Ros version of Crowder’s “Our Love is Loud”, which opened up into the old hymn “Praise to the Lord the Almighty”.

  2. What was your intro song before the service started. It sounded great. Thank you for leading us in worship.
