Everyone Needs Compassion on 05.15.11

Come and Listen – David Crowder
Again I Say Rejoice – Israel Houghton, Aaron Lindsey
Revelation Song – Jennie Riddle
Mighty to Save – Ben Fielding, Reuben Morgan

Lately I’ve been hearing much about how rushed some of our folks are when they enter into Willow’s worship services. There are lines to find a parking spot, and then drop off children at Promiseland and quickly rush in to the service to center and worship God.  It makes me tired just writing about it!  And while often times we start our services with a loud energetic worship song, I felt drawn to start a little slower, a little softer, and enter into our service differently.  So on May 14/15 we did just that with a call to worship song “Come and Listen”.

Later on in the service we placed a microscope on a few lines of a very beloved song at Willow, “Mighty to Save”.  Paul JVR helped us as we looked at these lines, “Everyone needs compassion, a love that’s never failing.  Let mercy fall on me.  Everyone needs forgiveness, the kindness of a Savior.  The hope of nations.” We prayed for those in our life who need an extra dose of compassion.  We prayed for those who need forgiveness.  We prayed for those who do not know Christ and are in need of knowing God’s kindness.

Whenever I sing this song now, I’m really praying through the lyrics.  I’m thinking of that person in my life whose life would be dramatically changed if they knew the kindness of our Savior.

Let’s go out and shine our lights!
