Communion on 05.21.11

Celebrating communion is at the absolute center of being a Christ-follower.  It is the sacrament of tangibly declaring “Jesus Christ, I will die with you so that I may live with you.  I will follow you into the paschal mystery of death, resurrection, and new life.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

I am thrilled every time we receive communion as a Willow community.

This weekend, we began with the classic hymn “O For a Thousand Tongues“, and then moved us into Tim Hughes song “Everything“… which exploded into the bridge of “How Great is Our God“.  After everyone sat down, Shawn and the team guided us into a stunning version of “Come Ye Sinners“.  (Click Come Ye Sinners live for our live version.)  The lyric “If you tarry until you’re better, you will never come at all” became the central idea of the weekend.  After Darren guided us through a time a reflection and communion, we ended with one of my favorite songs, the old spiritual “I Want Jesus to Walk With Me”.  Listen to it HERE.

The longer I am a Christian, the more impressed and compelled and inspired I am by Jesus.  (And the less interested I am in the christian religion, but that’s for another post!).  Thanks be to God that Jesus has invited us into life with him, walking as he did, doing what his Father gave him to do.  Let us give our entire lives to do the same!

In Christ,
Aaron

  1. Is there a copy of the version we do of ‘o for a thousand tongues?’ to buy, download, anything? I love the way you have arranged the music in this song, it’s beautiful.
